Google seems to be rolling out a lot of changes lately! Here are some exciting Google Search Updates that happened very recently –
- Google started showing the Like and Dislike buttons in the knowledge panel of the TV shows and movies.
- Google started testing the usage of “Outstanding” and “Excellent” in place of “5-star hotel” and “4-star hotel” for lodging properties.
However, the biggest (and perhaps the coolest!) update from Google is what Gregor J.Rothfuss has termed as the “neatest things maps has launched this year.”
Almost a year ago, Google released popular times for stores, cafes, and venues where a graph about how busy the venue was by day and hour was displayed. Now, things have gotten more advanced!
Real Time Data for Popular Times
Google has announced that they are adding a real-time look at how crowded a place is RIGHT NOW, to help you decide where and when to go. Google also added a feature to see stores within stores hours, like cafes within a large store.
Rich Cards for Online Courses and Local Restaurants
In May, Google launched Rich Cards for recipes and movies. On Nov 21, 2016, they announced that they would be expanding to two new verticals for US-based sites – online courses and local restaurants.
Search results for queries like “management courses” and “best Los Angeles restaurant” will display rich cards – in carousels that are easy to browse or a vertical three-pack that displays similar courses.

AMP Carousel in Mobile for Hotel Listings
Google is now showing AMP carousels for hotel listings that use schema.org/Hotel markup.
Looks like listings with LocalBusiness markup are in for rich cards next!
